Job Description
As the Head of the Disaster Recovery at Deriv, you will lead your team in developing and implementing disaster recovery, business continuity, and risk management strategies across our global offices. Our IT infrastructure includes around 150 servers and tens of terabyte-sized databases hosted in multiple cloud environments. On top of that, we use approximately 200 internal and external SaaS systems. We aim for 99.99% uptime, 24/7 availability with higher security, and lower latency from any country. Your job is to use your in-depth understanding of IT resilience to determine the critical processes required for the successful resumption of business operations in case of a disaster.
What will you be doing?
• Create a vision, strategy, and roadmap for our company's Disaster Recovery team in a fast-changing global marketplace.
• Build, mentor, and lead your department as a servant leader, maximising the team’s performance.
• Identify the critical processes and systems that are core to our company’s continued business operation and ensure they are protected from any natural or man-made disasters by applying rigorous BCP and DR practices.
• Create and establish a culture of disaster-preparedness by ensuring that BCP and DR take centre stage and reflect reality at all times. Assist all departments in systematising BCP and DR practices by establishing a routine of preventing, tracking, and reporting business continuity and disaster recovery issues.
• Lead all response and recovery activities in case of a major incident.
• Assess and audit third-party systems suppliers regarding business continuity processes and disaster recovery practices and provide alternatives if necessary.
Requirements
• 15+ years of experience, including 5+ years of management experience in a mid-to-large-sized company. We expect you to be tried and tested with the battle scars to prove it.
• Thorough knowledge of industry-standard information security and DR best practices
• Solid knowledge of chaos engineering to build systems that can withstand turbulent conditions
• Familiarity with legacy and modern application architectures and related technologies (web applications, service-oriented architecture, microservices), network protocols, and storage and backup services
• Hands-on experience in Linux and cloud computing (AWS, GCP, and other IAAS)
• Experience with audits
• Highly adaptable to new and different technologies in a fast-changing business environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
• University degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience
Bonus skills
• Experience in networking and configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, and SaltStack
