What will you do?


Proven track record and ability to establish, resource, lead and motivate a team of infrastructure, security and network engineers various levels of competency and seniority within a team
Excellent ability to maintain the teams focus on delivery in uncertainty
Provide leadership, management, and technical vision for IT infrastructure management, including cloud infrastructure
Provide strategic direction regarding the optimal use of infrastructure, with a focus on standardization, simplification and modernisation
Provide strategic direction with regards to leveraging available technologies for infrastructure
Management and daily operational leadership and administration of the infrastructure and operational teams
Excellent communication skills
Excellent presentation skills and ability to convey complex ideas in an understandable and simplistic manner
Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, from strategic executive and senior management to implementation level details
Excellent ability to effectively communicate with external third-party vendors, providing guidance to their efforts
Accountable for the up time of operational IT environment, including infrastructure and applications and required maintenance activities
Maximizes reliability/continuity of systems to protect revenue, customer experience
Consolidates and integrates IT infrastructure; reduce complexity, cost to optimize the IT spend for the operational environment and tracking related expenses
Supports all IT hardware, software, networks and facilities required to develop, test, monitor, control and support IT services by implementing mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all operational activities
Track and plan team productivity, delivery and operational roles in support of business
Drives automation of processes and workflows to maximize productivity of employees and their ability to contribute strategic value to the business
Oversees service/helpdesk (incidents and service requests)
Oversees system administration (Windows server, MAD administration, backup systems administration)
Oversees cyber security processes (threat intelligence, security and vulnerability assessment, incident response)
Develops IT governance tools, processes, templates
Contribute to the establishment of effective governance approaches
Develop infrastructure and operations in adherence to Sanlam IT policies and/or standards for SIG
End-to-end management of IT operations vendors
End-to-end management of IT resource vendors
Implements measures to address IT audit findings and/or compliance issues
Partakes in relevant governance and audit activities, bodies and forums
Ensures required processes and procedures are properly designed and documented to support business enablement
Ensures proper risk management measures are in place for infrastructure


What will make you successful in this role?


Bachelors or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics, Business Administration, or Engineering
10+ years business experience managing technical teams, Financial services experience would be advantageous
