Where vulnerability research sets the agenda — trainings, briefings, and 20,000 security professionals in Vegas
Black Hat USA runs on a simple promise: the talks must contain real, original security research. No marketing. No "thought leadership." Just findings. That's why a Black Hat briefing acceptance is one of the most coveted achievements in security research.
The Format
Trainings (August 1–4) cover everything from advanced malware analysis to cloud penetration testing. These are multi-day, hands-on courses taught by practitioners — not textbook instructors.
Briefings (August 5–6) are the main event: 30-minute and 50-minute presentations of new vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and defense innovations. The Arsenal demo area lets researchers showcase open-source tools live.
What to Watch in 2026
- AI model exploitation and LLM security flaws
- Cloud-native attack techniques (Kubernetes, serverless)
- Supply chain security after the XZ Utils wake-up call
- Automotive and embedded systems hacking
- Detection engineering and purple team methodologies
The Vegas Effect
Yes, it's hot. Yes, the casino floor is right there. But the real value is in the hallway conversations, the impromptu demos in hotel rooms, and the connections made over late-night discussions at bars where everyone's wearing the same lanyard.
